Come Gather and learn how to bring Death into your conversations, to learn what a Death Doula is and what they do, and to experience Death Café. This event is in person, but there will be a Zoom back-up plan for untraversable weather.

Please come join in learning how Death became taboo, why we need to bring it back into daily conversation, how Death Doulas can assist a person and their family in confronting their imminent (or not so imminent) death. What the difference is with hospice vs palliative care. Questions about MAIDs or VSED can be answered. And then experience Death Cafe with your peers in small groups. This experience will lead you to live more fully, more “in color”, for having contemplated your own mortality.
PRESENTERS / TOPICS
- Kate Raatz RN, BSN, HNB-BC, Certified EOL Doula has long held that being with people as they transition in Death is as much an honor as attending a birth. She is a member of the Minnesota Death Collaborative, and INELDA, She has been leading Death Cafes for over 2 years.
LEARNER OUTCOMES
Participants will be able to:
- Explain why Death became a taboo topic.
- Describe the benefits to talking about Death in daily conversations.
- Identify what a Death or EOL Doula is and what purpose they serve for a patient and their family.
- Explore the place and time for MAIDs or VSED.
- Experience a Death Cafe conversation

$10 registration, $5 for MinnHNA members.
