About the Event

WHAT TO EXPECT

A diverse group of presenters will share their unique perspectives and expertise on health care and health challenges in our LGBTQIA2S+ communities. You'll have dedicated time for Q&A sessions, networking, and breaks. See Schedule above for a detailed agenda.

This event will be hosted in partnership with the Minnesota Holistic Medicine Group.

WHAT IS LGBTQIA2S+?

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, Two Spirit

Note: These words are only one set of the possible representations of each symbol. Other words can also be included, such as Questioning, Agender, or Ally. In addition, many communities and experiences can be represented by the plus symbol.

  • Journey to Gender Inclusive Health: Jacki Trelawny (Director Community Engagement, Family Tree Clinic)
  • Working with the Latinx LGBTQIA2S+ Communities: Maria Orleny Arboleda (Consultant–community health engagement advocacy)
  • An Indigenous Two Spirit in Two Worlds of Traditional and Western Medicine: Jase Roe (They/Them, Enrolled member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe & Two Spirit
  • Navigation of Services for Trans and Youth BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color): Raquelle Paulsen (She/Her, Lead Medical Case Manager, University of Minnesota Youth and AIDS Projects)
  • Improving Care of the LGBTQ Population: Deborah Thorp, MD (Medical Director, Gender Services Clinic, Park Nicollet Clinic. Past Chair & Vice Chair, Ob-GYN Department. Openly lesbian.)

LEARNER OUTCOMES

Participants will be able to:

1. identify health issues & challenges in our LGBTQIA2S+ communities.

2. explore the impact of racism on LGBTQIA2S+ health.

3. describe culturally specific issues in our LGBTQIA2S+ communities.

4. explore community resources to support LGBTQIA2S+ patients.

Everyone is welcome.

$20 registration, $10 for MinnHNA members.

4 continuing education contact hours for nurses

You can request or gift a scholarship for MinnHNA Membership at minnhna.org/plans.
