DESCRIPTION 


Whether seeing patients in the clinic or using herbal medicine for yourself or loved ones, it's important to understand how plants work. They are not a "natural" substitute for pharmaceuticals. Each plant is a complex soup of chemicals and acts on many systems in the body. They often do not go in just one direction for one purpose. The body has an innate ability to heal itself, and herbs support the body's inclination to act toward its survival. Plants act in unique ways and will be most effective if you know how plants interact with the body and how that effectiveness can manifest in unexpected ways. What you see may not make sense as healing according to the biomedical model.
